This is my candy thermometer. Prior to purchasing this, I used the ball method. You know, where you drop the hot candy mixture into water and decide if it's "soft ball" or "hard ball?" Using the thermometer, it's infinitely easier.

that's a cute candy thermometer!
Mine's here: HERE.
I should probably not confess this, but when I first saw the caption and the picture, I thought, "that doesn't look like candy." Took me a minute even after reading further to wake up to what a candy thermometer means. I know that candy in the shape of a thermometer would be odd, but there ARE lots of odd things out there. And now I leave blushing at my own foolishness confessed.
Great idea. Red is so much fun to find, it can be anywhere or everywhere!

Smart purchase, I think. As you say, a candy thermometer is so much easier than the ball method. ;-)
I think I like the ball method better, because after you decide "soft" or "hard", you get to eat the experiment. :D

What a great choice and certainly better than the ball method! Too many burnt fingers.
Raven, you've given me my first laugh of the day!
Tink, well yes, there is that - eating the "ball." :D
I thought candy just appeared on store shelves. You mean I could learn to make candy!?
Ohhh dangerous idea ;)
great photo
Well now, that's a clever Ruby Tuesday entry. Very original. (I used to have one of those, but I haven't seen it in years.)
